Variety, the Children’s Charity wishes to express its great sadness on hearing of the death of former Chief Barker Ray Dutfield earlier this month (March 2019).

Ray Dutfield was promoted from Financial Director to become Chairman and Chief Executive of Technicolor UK, which gave him an enviable show business contact list. In 1989 his year as Chief Barker was marked by both his ability to create a great many sponsorships, and his generosity, with Technicolor supplying a mass of publicity material services. Ray’s wife, Dora, was very dedicated to the Variety at Work programme and worked tirelessly in its continued success. Meanwhile, Ray worked hard on his fellow directors and senior managers at Technicolor to join Variety Club – “signing up” a large number who all became very active in our work.
