Monkeying around, while marvelling at chimpanzees, orangutans, gibbons and woolly monkeys, was very much the order of the day for 300 pupils from Bournemouth schools who went on two separate Variety Great Days Out trips to Monkey World in Dorset.

Inspired by Sir Captain Tom Moore, Hollie Reid, who has cerebral palsy, walked 100 laps of her sofa at the height of the Covid-19 pandemic to raise £14,000 towards a new Sunshine Coach for Green Lane Community Special School in Warrington. She was six years old at the time. Variety was delighted to name Hollie a Young Ambassador at a celebration this week which saw corporate donors, Mountpark, presenting the coach to the school.

On Friday, 24 June, Keepmoat Homes in Tamworth held their inaugural Keepmoat Homes Ball at Drayton Manor Hotel in aid of Variety.

We are extremely saddened to hear the news that Monty Norman has died. Variety will remember Monty as a generous supporter of our work with children and young people.

Pupils of Linwood School in Bournemouth have affectionately named their Sunshine Coach after the family who so generously funded it in 2018. Many of these children would not be able to enjoy outings and trips beyond the school gates if it weren't for the adapted transport the minibus provides.

Variety’s 17th Gastronomic Evening was a feast for the senses, with guests treated to fantastic menus by Michelin Star chefs Jason Atherton and Paul Walsh, plus fine wines, music and much more – all while helping to change young lives.

A Variety Sunshine Coach has been presented by The Bingo Association Chief Executive, Miles Baron, to students at Newfriars college in Stoke-on-Trent. This coach is the 31st donated by The Bingo Association in the past five years.
