With great sorrow, Variety has learned of the death of Jarvis Astaire, OBE, on 22nd August 2021.

Variety South West region has appointed Andy Ford as a Regional Ambassador.

"First, you need to catch your chicken!" explained Farmer Bryan Pass to his twelve excited visitors, all young carers from Bethany School in Boscombe, Bournemouth. Farmer Pass, a manager at Longdown Activity Farm near Southampton, also showed the children that chickens are perfectly friendly and happy if they are held properly. The hugely enjoyable day out was organised by the Wessex branch of Variety and was their first outing since lockdown restrictions began.

Ten excited children from Bournemouth enjoyed a morning of angling at Orchard Lakes Fishing Lake near New Milton in Hampshire, an outing organised by Variety Wessex for the sixteenth year running.
