Josh’s Story
A short attention span hinders his speed of learning and at home Josh tends to raise his voice and has to be constantly reminded to talk more quietly.
School is something he really enjoys, he tries very hard to learn and is happy when it’s his turn to do jobs in class. Apart from swimming, one of Josh’s great hobbies is making (and tasting) cakes.
He had tried a special augmented communication device and found it made a big difference to his ability to communicate what he meant. This had a positive impact on his confidence level and independence both at home and at school.
That’s why Variety, supported by Crest Nicholson Regeneration, bought Josh a Smartbox Communication Aid. It’s small enough for him to carry with him and easy to operate. His parents have already seen Josh progress week by week now that he can more easily communicate his needs and wishes.
