Kare’s Story
Kare is the current England Road Champion having won the under-14 Girl’s Virgin London Marathon in 2014. She is ranked number 2 in the UK behind Hannah Cockcroft in the 100 metres.
Now a member of the GB Paralympic Wheelchair racing team Kare has had a recent growth spurt resulting in her growing out of her current, racing wheelchair.
Variety decided that such a budding Paralympic Champion should have the new bespoke wheelchair she desperately needed. This has given her greater flexibility for manoeuvring and transfers – enabling her to transfer independently when preparing for and participating in her wheelchair racing.
Kare is ranked top 6 in the world in 100 – 1500 metres
As a member of Britain’s World Class Performance Programme. Kare has her sights set on the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio and at this rate she looks like she already well on her way.
“I would like to say a big thank you to Variety for all your support and making my Paralympian journey possible. My first race of the year will be at the London Virgin Marathon on 26 April. Thanks again for all your help, without Variety’s assistance many disabled athletes would struggle to participate in sports.
Duty makes us do things well, but love makes us do them beautifully.
I hope to do you all proud this season and beyond.”
