Emily

Emily is a vocal disability campaigner, passionate about seeing equality for the disabled community. She has spina bifida, hydrocephalus, scoliosis, PDA autism and Chiari malformation, and is a wheelchair user. Emily, who lives in Hampshire, has influenced a lot of social change, and so far has appeared on Channel 5, ITV and BBC television to highlight the lack of access, care and toilets for disabled children in the UK and improvements needed to local play parks. With her family, she also took a 40,000-signature petition to Downing Street, asking for a minister for disabled children and families. In 2019 she was named Positive Role Model for Age at the National Diversity Awards in recognition of all she has accomplished.

Emily is also the star of ground-breaking comic book, The Department of Ability, based on characters whose disabilities become superpowers, and her short story was published in a Young Writers Anthology, helping change the narrative around childhood disability. She loves doing martial arts, and wants all children, whatever their abilities, to be seen for all they can contribute and achieve.

Emily was made a Variety Young Ambassador in December 2019.
